Eight sailors, seven from Mornington Yacht Club, are preparing to represent Australia at the 2026 Team Racing World Championships in Stockholm, Sweden, in August, following their national title win at the Open 2K Team Racing National Championships in Geelong.
The team — Lachie Weber, Lottie Wormald, James Jackson, Will McKenzie, Lulu Di Sciascio, Jack Furey (SYC), Heath Jones and Maddy English — earned selection after winning the national championship in September 2025. Their nomination by Australian Sailing was accepted by the World Sailing Selection Committee, securing their invitation to compete on the world stage.
The campaign reflects the strength of Mornington Yacht Club’s junior sailing pathway, with many members of the team having learned to sail through the club’s own development programs.
Mornington Yacht Club, local businesses, families and community supporters are backing the campaign through sponsorship, fundraising and donations, helping offset the significant costs of competing overseas.
