Sailing on home waters on the Swan River in Perth, 23 year old Perth sailor Torvar Mirsky and his MRT team outsailed triple Olympic Gold Medallist Ben Ainslie, and the Team Origin crew in the final of the 2009 Sunseeker Australia Cup. The scoreline was 2-0.
In the Petit Final another Perth sailor, Keith Swinton, defeated World Match Racing Tour leader, New Zealand's Adam Minoprio and his Emirates Team New Zealand BlackMatch Team.
