Middle Sea Race start

One of the highlights in the international yachting calendar, the annual Rolex Middle Sea Race commenced on Saturday from Grand Harbour, Valletta.

Organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club and partnered by Rolex since 2002, the 606-nautical mile (975 kilometre) race, starting and finishing in Malta, is renowned both for its beautiful racecourse and the scale of the challenge it presents competing crews.

A diverse international fleet of 114 yachts commenced this year’s 42nd edition across seven starts. The quest for both monohull and multihull line honours is forecast to be one of the most exciting in the race’s history while the Corinthian-crewed Maltese yacht Elusive 2 is aiming to make history by becoming only the second yacht to win the race on corrected time for the third straight year.
