The Marina Industries Association (MIA) has announced that Mark Richards, a prominent maritime leader and ocean racing legend, will serve as the Closing Keynote Speaker at the Marinas26 International Conference & Trade Exhibition. This event will be held from 25–26 May 2026 at the RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
Richards will provide unique insights from his extensive experience in marine design, innovation, and competitive sailing. His address is anticipated to resonate with marina owners, operators, designers, and suppliers, focusing on leadership, innovation, and the evolution of marinas to best serve future boaters.
Upon accepting the invitation to speak, Richards remarked, “This will be a full circle moment for me. I grew up on the Northern Beaches of Sydney and was a dock attendant at the Royal Motor Yacht Club on Pittwater driving the tender and pumping fuel. In the intervening decades I’ve campaigned countless ocean races and designed and built hundreds of boats. Now we’ve bought our 2nd marina, our clear focus is on customer satisfaction. I‘m looking forward to Marinas26 and giving back to our industry”
MIA President Andrew Chapman AM CMM expressed enthusiasm about having Richards close the conference, highlighting the significance of his insights and the inspiration he provides as a role model within the industry. He noted that this opportunity showcases the diverse career pathways available in the sector.
Delegates attending Marinas26 are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the Gold Coast and to visit the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS). Accommodation rates at the Royal Pines Resort are available starting from Thursday, 21 May (the booking link is at marinas26.com). A shuttle service from Invest Gold Coast SCIBS will operate from Friday to Sunday, providing delegates with a relaxing travel experience.
