Marinas26 – Future smart – Call for speaking papers

The Marina Industry Association (MIA) has begun planning the conference content for Marinas26, with exhibition space nearly sold out and 150 delegates already registered.

This biennial conference aims to provide delegates with the latest information on the economic environment, industry data, trends, performance benchmarks, and key legislative changes affecting the marina industry.

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Future Smart’, which reflects the rapid transformation of the marina industry driven by technology, sustainability, and evolving customer expectations. Marinas are transitioning from mere berthing facilities to sophisticated hubs that incorporate digital systems, innovative design, and environmental responsibility. A ‘future smart’ marina will leverage data, automation, and connected services to enhance boaters’ experiences, improve operational efficiency, and maximise environmental outcomes.

Conference Chair Karen Baldwin stated, “The future-focused lens will ensure that industry is aware of the opportunities created by the rapid technological change we are experiencing. This theme highlights how embracing new technologies – from energy management and renewable infrastructure to AI-powered customer service and predictive maintenance – will help marinas stay competitive, resilient and profitable.”

‘Future Smart’ also encompasses forward-thinking strategies, collaboration, and future-proof planning. The conference will encourage marina operators, developers, and suppliers to anticipate industry shifts, share knowledge, and lead innovation for a sustainable future in boating communities globally.

The MIA invites contributors to submit speaking proposals aligned with the conference theme, delivering informative and motivating content for marina and boatyard owners and operators.

Submissions should be emailed to Suzanne Davies at ceo@marinas.net.au, including a primary topic outline, a short abstract (200-300 words), the relevance to the conference theme, benefits for the target audience, key learning outcomes, proposed duration (excluding Q&A), and a speaker bio detailing qualifications and relevant experience.

Marinas26 will be held on the 25th and 26th of May 2026 at the Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast, expecting over 400 industry delegates to attend.

The conference website www.Marinas26.com is live, and delegate registrations are open. Vendors interested in exhibiting should act quickly due to limited space, with over 90% already committed. The Exhibitor Prospectus is available on the website or by contacting Silvia Jura at admin@marinas.net.au.
