Harken introduces Element – a quality block priced for your wallet

Pewaukee, WI – When developing Element for wallet-conscious sailors, Harken engineers were faced with this question: How to deliver the critical design objective of Harken quality at a value price? Frankly, the road was HARD.

Harken engineers decided a new approach was imperative, rejecting the status-quo methodology of plastic blocks with internal stainless load-carrying balls. A hint of their solution is in the name. Everything not a building block of strength and durability is stripped away.

Element blocks combine a proven bearing system with the strength of forged aluminum, sculpted to protect the fiber-reinforced nylon sheaves. The result is a contemporary block that is extraordinarily durable, efficient—and wallet-friendly.

Element is a product for sailors, no matter if they are cruisers or racers,” says Project Manager, Jeremy McMahon. “It’s a Harken block for people who don’t need Harken, but want the quality of Harken in any block they purchase.”

Element blocks are offered in singles, doubles, triples, fiddles and footblocks; accept line from 8 – 16 mm and come in 45, 60, and 80 mm sizes. They will be available in early 2018. Learn more at www.harken.com/element.
