World Sailing has confirmed the dates for the Fortaleza (Brazil) 2027 World Sailing Championships as 22-30 January 2027, with a Test Event taking place from 24-31 January 2026. This Test Event will assess the venue’s readiness and preview the competitive action expected at the Championships.
Participants, including sailors, race officials, and organisers, will be able to evaluate all championship operations, such as the management systems and logistics. Athletes will also have their first opportunity to compete on the championship courses and adjust to the region’s consistent strong winds and warm waters.
Daniel Azevedo, President of CBVela, expressed enthusiasm for the growing sailing heritage in Fortaleza and highlighted the ideal conditions for watersports. He noted that the Test Event will help refine operations in collaboration with World Sailing and the athletes, ensuring everything is prepared for the main event in January 2027.
The Fortaleza 2027 World Sailing Championships Test Event will include Men’s and Women’s Dinghy, Windsurfing, and Kite events.
The separate Gdynia 2027 World Sailing Championships Test Event will include Men’s and Women’s Skiff, Mixed Dinghy and Mixed Multihull
The Notice of Race for the Test Event has been published and is available for download from the World Sailing website. Member National Authorities are encouraged to enter the Test Event.
