Discover Boating Australia dry stack campaign reaches midpoint milestone

The Discover Boating Australia Dry Stack campaign has officially reached its mid-campaign milestone, marking three months of collaborative industry engagement aimed at increasing awareness of Dry Stack boat storage across Southeast Queensland.

Led by Zeal Marinas and supported by BIA’s Discover Boating Australia, the campaign is in partnership with six leading marinas, helping boat owners understand the operational, lifestyle, and maintenance benefits of this storage solution in making boating easier and more sustainable.

Pelican Waters Marina, Scarborough Marina, Redland City Marina, Runaway Bay Marina, D’Albora Marina, Pacific Point and East Coast Marina have united to support the campaign. This initiative highlights the significance of Dry Stack storage as Australia’s recreational boating sector continues to grow. Increasing awareness of such storage solutions is crucial for managing marina capacity and enhancing the accessibility and longevity of vessels, especially as registrations are anticipated to surpass one million by 2030.

Scarborough Marina Manager Richard Barrett noted the challenges posed by market awareness, stating there is a significant demographic of potential boat owners, particularly those in units or smaller residential blocks, who are unaware that boat ownership is a viable option. Dry Stack storage can help overcome this barrier, opening the door to a new demographic of boaters.

Barrett emphasised the importance of collaborative initiatives like this, as educating this market is beyond the reach of any single operator. Initial observations show a noticeable increase in inquiries at Scarborough Marina, reinforcing the benefits of a unified industrial approach to reach potential boat owners.

Rather than solely promoting the advantages of Dry Stack storage, the campaign has focused on education, providing real-world insights through a series of articles, videos, and interviews with boat owners, showcasing the operation of dry stack facilities and their contributions to marine infrastructure.

As the campaign progresses, Discover Boating Australia is set to continue releasing educational content, including owner experiences and marina insights. The campaign has already achieved significant traction across organic and paid channels, reaching over 300,000 users and generating more than 20,000 clicks.

The continued goal is to inform SEQ boat owners about how to choose suitable storage solutions. An interactive quiz matching boaters with the appropriate storage options has already guided over 1,100 users to explore participating marinas.

This year marks the campaign’s inaugural rollout, with plans for future expansions and greater industry participation. The collaboration is the result of efforts between Zeal Marinas, Allies Management, and the Boating Industry Association.
