Day 2 down – The race for the title tightens at M32 Worlds

Ryan McKillen’s Surge secured the lead on day two of the M32 World Championship in Miami, finishing the day with several wins and taking the overall lead. Following closely behind are TUUCI and ChinaOne.Ningbo, both vying for top positions.

The competition began with Race One where ChinaOne.Ningbo, helmed by Phil Robertson, set a robust pace, winning with a commanding 56-second lead—remarkable in the M32 Class where races typically last around 17 minutes.

In Race Two, Surge dominated from start to finish, while Convexity reported a did not start (DNS) due to hardware issues.

Surge continued their strong performance with a win in Race Three, pulling into the lead overall, as the Vikings, in a sportsmanlike gesture, delayed their race to allow Convexity to return to the competition.

Race Four saw another win for ChinaOne.Ningbo, solidifying their competitive edge, as they placed three boats between themselves and Surge. The standings became tight, with only one point separating the top three teams: Surge (34 points), TUUCI (35), and ChinaOne.Ningbo (36).

In Race Five, the rivalry between Robertson and Canfield continued, mirroring Race Four; however, this time Surge triumphed, with ChinaOne.Ningbo slipping to a lower position. TUUCI managed to maintain their consistent performance with yet another third-place finish.

The day’s conditions were ideal, featuring partly cloudy skies and a steady breeze of 8-10 knots with gusts reaching up to 12 knots, ensuring an exhilarating racing experience for all teams.

After racing, participants enjoyed a social gathering at the regatta headquarters, featuring BACARDÍ cocktails and the hospitality of TUUCI.

The championship now stands at the halfway mark, with nine races remaining, promising an exciting conclusion to this competitive event. Teams will return to the water tomorrow for more action.
