British women sailors mugged at knifepoint in Rio de Janeiro

London 2012 sailing silver medallist Hannah Mills has been mugged at knife point in Rio less than two years before the Olympics in Brazil.

Mills, from Dinas Powys, and sailing partner Saskia Clark, who both claimed Olympic silver two years ago in the girls 470 class, were stopped by two guys as they walked back to their hotel from their training base and robbed.

The pair explained on their Facebook page: “Back in Rio for 2 weeks training. Top News Today: WE’VE BEEN MUGGED. Humph.

“Our delightful walk back from the sailing club to the hotel turned fairly nasty when two guys wielding 7inch knives ran at us, pushed us around and grabbed everything we had.

“Along with the things that were actually worth something, the most annoying thing right now is our lycra we were sailing in got taken. Unbelievable!!
