Brisbane Race Week – Final Day

Brisbane Race Week presented by Porsche Centre Brisbane has concluded at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron on Moreton Bay, marking its biggest edition yet. Over five days, the regatta featured diverse racing formats and strong community engagement, culminating in a final day pursuit race.

The event attracted nearly 50 boats across yacht and Off the Beach divisions, all supported by a vibrant onshore program that fostered a festival-like atmosphere. In the Monohull Performance division, the overall PHS victory went to Tool Time, helmed by Stephen O’Brien, who praised the event and thanked the organisers and volunteers for their efforts.

The Monohull Cruising division was won by Blackadder, skippered by Alexander Grant, who finished ahead of Danseur and French Kiss in a competitive week of racing. The sole Multihull entry, Dog House, completed the series successfully.

Earlier in the week, the Off the Beach divisions showcased close racing, particularly within the VX One and Finn fleets. In the VX One class, Mack One, skippered by Ben Franklin, achieved overall victory, while the Finn fleet saw a tie on points between Annie and Jazel, with Annie winning on countback.

The success of Brisbane Race Week was underpinned by the contributions of Race Officer Paul Bolton and the dedicated volunteer team, who ensured smooth operations throughout the regatta. Event Director Anton Prange highlighted the goal of creating a unique and accessible event for sailors, explaining that the regatta aims to offer something different each day.

With significant growth since its inception—starting with just 10 boats and no sponsors—the event has become a community-driven initiative that fosters camaraderie among sailors, sponsors, and volunteers alike. Off the water, social events like A Night in Rio and Legends on the Lawn enhanced the community spirit of the week.

David Crosdale from Porsche Centre Brisbane expressed satisfaction with the partnership, noting the strong sense of passion evident throughout the event. Brisbane Race Week continues to establish itself as a distinctive sailing event in Queensland, combining a dynamic racing experience with a strong sense of community.
