The LGT Wealth Management Australia Cup will take place this weekend at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. Participants include five TP52 class boats and eight Super 40s, with racing broadcast live for spectators.

Marcus Blackmore’s Hooligan, fresh off an IRC Division 1 and Boat of the Week win at Hamilton Island Race Week, will be helmed by Katie Spithill for this event. Spithill expressed excitement about returning to the boat after her coaching role at Hamilton Island, highlighting the team’s camaraderie and the need for perfect sailing to succeed in the short course format.
This spring event on Sydney Harbour aims to serve as a crucial warm-up for Australian fleets ahead of the summer season and fits well into the schedule for international competitors.
Spithill noted the event’s fast-paced format and the inclusion of Super 40s for the first time, indicating potential for growth in future iterations.
The LGT Wealth Management Australia Cup is an extension of the grand prix racing that the TP52 class has been involved with in Australia, incorporating the Super 40 class. Live coverage of the event can be viewed on the TP52 YouTube and TP52 Facebook channels.
Thanks to naming rights sponsor LGT Wealth Management and additional sponsors Zhik and Hancock & Hancock for their support of this double header event.
