Antigua Sailing Week 2026 promises an exciting blend of racing and social activities tailored for sailors of all levels. The event runs from April 21 to April 26, with registration at Nelson’s Dockyard and a restructured format that capitalises on the island’s natural beauty.
Racing begins on April 23, with participants starting from Nelson’s Dockyard and sailing to Green Island, followed by stops at Jumby Bay Island and Ffryes Beach before returning to the dockyard for the final prize-giving. Each leg features considerable distances, notably an 11-mile return from Ffryes Beach.
The event caters to four divisions: Monohull Racing, Multihull Racing, Monohull Cruising Rally, and Multihull Cruising Rally. Many local sailors like Sandy Mair, who races a Beneteau First 36, are expected to compete fiercely. Meanwhile, newcomers to the event, such as Rob Britts and Dawn Menegazzi from Florida, are looking forward to a more leisurely participation. Other participants, like Jerome Delire with his Hanse 588 and Steve Turnbull with his Lagoon 440, are also approaching this week as a unique gathering of sailing enthusiasts rather than a pure racing competition.
The new format encourages camaraderie among sailors and an immersive local experience, with vibrant nightly festivities that include parties at various venues around the island. Daily prizegivings add to the competitive spirit while maintaining a focus on enjoyment and exploration.
Marketing and Race Logistics Manager Rana Lewis stated, “We are very thankful to the boats and crews who are taking the leap of faith with us this year and heading back around the island. The logistics are challenging, but that is half the fun. We are delighted to reconnect Antigua Sailing Week with the rest of the island and give our sailors the full experience of our culture, food, different types of venues, and ultimately have a fantastic week.”
