Shaw and Partners Women Racing finished fifth overall at the inaugural New York Yacht Club Women’s International Championship in Newport, Rhode Island, concluding its first international campaign as the highest-placed team from outside North America.
Led by co-founders Katie Spithill and Stacey Jackson, the Australian team demonstrated significant improvement over the five-day championship, advancing through a competitive 20-team international fleet as they adapted to racing the IC37 together.
After a challenging start to the regatta, the team excelled with consecutive second-place finishes in Races 5 and 6, and capped off the championship with a strong performance, finishing sixth, third, and second in their final four races.
