2027 McIntyre Ocean Globe Race is looking for crews!

The 2027 McIntyre Ocean Globe Race is opening its doors for crew applications, inviting sailors to join in an adventurous journey spanning over 27,000 nautical miles. With nine teams currently preparing, including confirmed campaigns from Translated 9, Galiana, Explorer, and Outlaw, the race promises a thrilling experience for both professional and amateur sailors alike.

The race is set to begin on 12 September 2027, starting in Europe and making stops in Cape Town, Auckland, and Punta del Este before concluding back in Europe in April 2028. Participants will navigate using traditional methods, relying on sextants and paper charts, as modern technology like GPS will be prohibited.

Currently, Translated 9 is accepting worldwide applications until 26 July 2026, and previous ocean-racing experience is not a prerequisite. Other teams are also looking for crew members, offering various roles depending on experience levels.

Galiana, led by Finnish sailor Tapio Lehtinen, aims to provide a classic sailing experience. Meanwhile, the Australian yacht Explorer, after completing the last race despite challenges, is seeking sailors for both individual legs and full circumnavigation. Outlaw is also recruiting, allowing participants to explore share ownership in the yacht.

The race aims to maintain a mixed-gender crew and includes a requirement for at least one sailor under 24 years of age, ensuring that younger talent gets the opportunity to participate.

Sailors interested in joining this exciting challenge should consult the individual team information available on the Ocean Globe Race website for specific recruitment timelines and financial arrangements.
