Nuevo Nayarit, Mexico, hosted the GKA Kite World Tour for the opening Freestyle stop of the 2026 season, welcoming 15 men and 8 women to the start of a new competitive year. A brand-new destination on the tour calendar, Nuevo Nayarit has rolled out the red carpet for athletes and crew alike — the beginning of what we hope will become a regular annual fixture on the GKA Freestyle circuit.
Competitors faced challenging conditions as they battled for the top spot, with Kajiya and Flügel emerging victorious in their respective categories. The event showcased impressive performances, setting a thrilling tone for the rest of the season.
As the season progresses, fans and sailors can look forward to more exciting events in the GKA Kite World Tour, with hopes to build upon the success seen in Mexico.
Australian Leo Verracchia placed 4th overall after progressing to his first final.
