Tricky conditions defined the final elimination day at the 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17 World Championships, with huge shifts in pressure and plenty of leaderboard movement across the fleets ![]()
In the 49er, Harry Price and Max Paul opened the day with a bullet, followed by a discard race, before bouncing back with another solid result to strengthen their hold on 2nd overall and remain firmly in the hunt for the world title ![]()
Despite building a points buffer through the week, the new finals format keeps everything incredibly tight. Points have now been divided by 2.25 heading into the final day, meaning the top 10 are separated by only small margins ahead of two single-point races.
In the Nacra 17, two Australian crews will advance to Finals racing, with Brin Liddell and Rhiannan Brown sitting 6th overall, and Archie Gargett and Sarah Hoffman in 9th. The Nacras will race under a slightly different compression format, with a points cap applied, leaving both crews just 18 points off the podium with two final races remaining.
Ruben and Rita Booth completed the regatta in 17th overall, while Jake Liddell and Niamh Meehan finished 19th after wrapping up their week racing.
In the 49er Silver Fleet, Otto Henry and Shaun Connor enjoyed a strong day on the water to move up to 28th overall, with Jack Ferguson and Jack Hilderbrand sitting in 33rd overall, with one final Silver Fleet race scheduled tomorrow.
Brooke Wilson and Evie Haseldine also found their rhythm in the 49erFX Silver Fleet and now sit 37th overall with one race remaining.
