8 to 12 April 2026 – Antigua, W.I.
Day 1: The Antigua Racing Cup burst into life in full trade wind conditions off Antigua’s south coast. The gradient easterly breeze peaked in the high teens, with gusts exceeding 20 knots, creating phenomenal tropical racing conditions. As the day progressed, wind speeds moderated, adding an additional layer of strategy to the races.
The Race Committee set up two technical race courses for CSA classes 2, 3, and 4, and introduced a long 24nm course for the larger CSA 1 boats. The opening day proved demanding, featuring five-leg windward-leeward courses for Race 1. Sailors faced a challenging five-mile beat followed by a vigorous reciprocal run back. Race 2 offered a more tightly contested windward-leeward setup, intensifying the pressure on boat handling, crew dynamics, and endurance. The international fleet experienced nearly five hours of high-octane racing under spectacular Caribbean conditions, with provisional results indicating tight battles for podium positions across most CSA categories.
