As the Star Sailors League Summer Camp 2025 kicks off, we’re proud to introduce one of the standout teams in the project — SSL Team Australia. With Olympic champions, America’s Cup competitors, and youth-class winners, this squad brings a blend of experience, raw talent, and serious competitive energy to the SSL arena!
SSL Team Australia has arrived in Grandson, Switzerland , as one of the first teams to begin training. The full crew is not yet assembled, but the core members are already on site — confident and fully focused on training and hard work.
The first sailors hits the water in Grandson.
Paul McKenzie, Olympic Finn sailor and America’s Cup competitor, leads as team manager and coach, bringing decades of racing knowledge and leadership.
Matt Wearn Sailing, double Olympic gold medallist in ILCA 7, takes the helm as skipper — a new role for the solo sailing ace, who’s ready to transition into team dynamics and lead from the front.
The talented duo Annie Wilmot and Laura Harding continue their strong partnership from the 49erFX class, now aboard the SSL47. After making history in the first Women’s America’s Cup in 2024, they bring next-generation energy and top-tier racing instinct.
The team also includes George Richardson, with offshore experience on TP52s and Mini Maxis, and Mark Bulka, a four-time World Champion across multiple classes, adding strategic strength and veteran precision.
With a balance of experience and emerging talent, SSL Team Australia is shaping up to be a force in the SSL Gold Cup. The next few weeks of training will be crucial — setting the tone for a team aiming high and thinking long-term.
