Sunseeker engulfed in fire at Hamilton Island Marina

ABC Tropical North has reported extensive damage to a luxury yacht during blaze at Hamilton Island Marina

The 25 metre Sunseeker 82 model has been engulfed in a fire at the marina of Hamilton Island, in Queensland, Australia. The yacht is believed to be called Time Out.

According to local reports, fire broke out on the yacht just before 11am local time on Monday 24th October and continued for at least five hours, with emergency services hindered by the weather.

The blaze was eventually extinguished, but the hull remained smouldering in the marina. The fire was contained to a single vessel and no one was on board at the time of the incident, however a man in his 40s and a man in his 60s have been assessed for smoke inhalation.

A spokesperson from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service said one crew was able to contain the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
