The 2025 Harcourts Hobart Launceston to Hobart Yacht Race has concluded, with presentations held this afternoon in conjunction with the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria’s Melbourne to Hobart Yacht Race.
The results are officially in, revealing a highly competitive event this year.
Congratulations to overall winner Footloose, which showcased an outstanding performance across multiple handicap divisions: first in PHS, first in IRC, second in ORC, and first boat under 10 metres. Stewart Geeves was also recognised as First Navigator.
Kenan 44 Tempo Racing, skippered by Tony Williams, was first across the line, achieving line honours this year. Tempo also won Race 1 (Beauty Point to Low Head) and performed well overall, finishing first in ORC, first in PHS, and second in IRC. Congratulations to Tony and crew; anticipation builds for their next outing on the Derwent.
In Race 1 from Beauty Point to Low Head, Footloose demonstrated strong early performance, securing second in IRC, first in PHS, and first in ORC. Honeypot Sailing also had a commendable race, finishing second in PHS and first in IRC, with Talofa completing the ORC podium in third place.
The PHS division was fiercely contested until the end. Despite their speed, Tempo ranked third in the handicap fleet. Bryan Walpole’s Invincible finished an impressive second, while Footloose, captained by Stewart Geeves, clinched the top spot, further proving the boat’s stellar sailing capabilities.
In ORC, the competition remained just as tight. The 2024 Overall Winner, Knest Modular Prion Racing, skippered by Donovan Oak and Jory Linscott, secured third place after a strong finish that allowed them to pull ahead of boats caught in Storm Bay. Footloose took second, while Tempo, skippered by Tony Williams, dominated to take first in ORC as well, following their impressive line honours performance.
In IRC, the podium saw Knest Modular Prion claiming third after another solid performance. Tempo, led by Tony Williams, finished second, adding to their trophy collection, while Footloose, under Stewart Geeves, achieved first place in IRC and overall, rounding off an incredible performance.
A special thank you goes to our naming rights sponsor Harcourts Hobart for supporting this event, alongside TasPorts for their assistance at the docks, and Tamar Yacht Club for their collaboration.
Appreciation extends to all who attended today’s presentation; the atmosphere was delightful. Lastly, heartfelt thanks to volunteers, organisers, MC Colleen Darcey, crews, supporters, and followers for making this race memorable.
