New, fast 40 footer, match racing, downwind sails and more

The latest issue of Australian Sailing is all about speed.

It lists the 10 speediest sailors in over 20 different classes, in the annual off-the-beach Nationals review.

It has a four-page boat review on the new Soto 40 from Argentine, which is so exceptionally fast that 2008-09 Volvo Ocean Race winner, Torben GFrael, has bought one for himself.

If you want to go fast through waves, David Dellenbaugh tells you all the secrets in his Speed & Smarts section, and if you want to go fast downwind you'll learn all about the best sail cloths in our downwind sails feature.

Learning from your mistakes is another theme in this issue, with Tony Bull, Andrew York and Vanessa Dudley all contributing valuable insight, while Neil Patchett explains how Archie Massey set up his boat to win back-to-back i14 Worlds..

On the international scene, you can also read about the World Match Race Tour, the Clipper round-the-world race and the Bay of Islands Sailing Week in NZ.
