UK-Halsey move brings better value for Melbourne

Renowned sailmaker Sam Haines and his team have joined the UK-Halsey Sailmakers group.
According to Haines, the move has been made to offer more services and cutting edge technology to clients old and new.

Market leaders since the 1980s, the highly successful UK-Halsey group has over 50 lofts globally. It’s one of only two sailmakers in the world offering exclusive one-piece membrane sails, known as MatriX Titanium.

MatriX Titanium is a one-piece membrane sail where the yarns run continuously across the sail and are not broken at the seams. Titanium was used in the last America’s Cup and is being used again on Team China’s AC45.

Ever with an eye to the future, the UK-Halsey group has developed (and constantly refines) its own design software and production technology.

Haines is enthusiastic about this latest evolution of his burgeoning business.
‘This change brings advantages for all: more information and corporate support for our Melbourne operation, which means more flow-on benefits for our loyal and prospective customers. We’ll continue to design sails in-house; we’re sticking with our trusted suppliers and we’ll still make sails at our Sandringham loft.’

He enjoys racing Australia’s east coast and his extensive offshore sailing experience includes nine Sydney to Hobart Yacht Races.  In the last few years Haines has been focussing on one design racing as well and the portfolio is showing excellent results in the 505, International 14ft Skiff, Etchells, Flying 15, OK Dinghy, Couta Boat and Sydney 38 classes.

While name changes seldom mean much to clients, Haines is confident his customers are going to enjoy this one. He’s particularly pleased with the increased functionality of the www.ukhalsey.com website which features:
•    IRC Calculator.
•    Safety-at-sea videos.
•    Rule tips and animated quizzes.
•    Detailed sail technology and trim information.
Haines’ business address and phone numbers stay the same. His new emails are:
