The 14th Annual Variety Splash is the ultimate outing on water

The annual Variety Splash, the ultimate social outing on the water, is set to take place on Lake Macquarie from February 17th – 19th, 2012.

In its 14th year, the Variety Splash is a three day outing for like-minded boat owners that raises money for Variety, the Children’s Charity. The weekend is spent indulging in the finest food, dropping anchor and visiting communities along Lake Macquarie and enjoying a magnificent sightseeing experience.

The three day Splash event sees all types of vessels including houseboats and luxurious cruisers to run-about tinnies and canoes embark on a weekend of fun and festivities as they cruise down one of Australia's most beautiful waterways.

The event is likened to the Variety Bash but on water, as its not a race but rather a cruise down Lake Macquarie discovering new places with other boating enthusiasts, at the same time as raising money to support kids in need.

The group also takes part in the infamous Splash Olympics, a series of fun water games.  All the vessels are dressed to impress, with colourful displays of streamers and flags.  Some of the boats in the past have even embraced a theme for the event, including ‘men at work’ and ‘frangipani island’.

This year, the group will depart from the Toronto Wharf after enjoying a breakfast courtesy of the Toronto Public School P&C.  The crew will sail their way to Gwandalan and enjoy lunch after a cruise around the foreshores of Coal Point, Wangi Wangi Point and Pulbah Island.

Back on the water to the Rathmines F Jetty for their first overnight stop over and great dining in the Historic Catalina Base Officers  Mess now known as the Rathmines Bowling Club to party on into the night.

On Saturday the fantastic food keeps on coming with a delicious breakfast and lunch supplied by the local Services clubs of the Rathmines foreshore and Shingle Splitters point. The crew will then enjoy a great night of entertainment with dinner served at the Toronto Hotel where they will dance the night away to a free band and amazing firework display.

Entry is $250.00 per person for the weekend (vessel not included), plus $195.00 for all meals and entertainment.  Kids 8 to 16 years are only $50.00, and under 7’s are free.  Entry is tax deductible.
It is a must-do Summer event for those wanting to experience an unforgettable weekend on the water while also lending a helping hand to kids in need.
