New lifestyle hub to redefine living at Blue Water Marina

Bluewater’s master-planned Trinity Beach, Cairns, residential community received a green light last month to develop its waterfront marina retail and commercial precinct.

Brookfield Residential Properties’ National Director, Phil Leahy said he has been advised by the owners of the site that work would commence immediately to take Bluewater’s marina from a vessel mooring facility into a lifestyle destination.

“For our existing 108 berth marina, which is currently at 100 per cent rental occupancy, this is fantastic news for our boaties who will benefit significantly from our new and expanded range of services and facilities.

“Key to this development will be The Bluewater Hotel comprising retail outlets, a 500 venue capacity with a focus on events and the service of food, beverage and entertainment,” said Mr Leahy after plans for the development were revealed this month by the precinct’s new owners and developers, the Sayers family.

Speaking on behalf of his family, whose experience in hospitality service and development spans 30 years, General Manager of the new facility, Alex Sayers predicts their Bluewater Hotel project will be a great boon for the region.

“We have great plans for this venue that will include bar and restaurant facilities with alfresco dining, beer garden and a spacious deck overlooking the marina as well as a small and select range bottle shop and deli/convenience store to provide gourmet and convenience foods for Bluewater’s community and surrounding areas.  Added to this, there will be a new Marina administration and amenities block for boat owners and those who live on their craft moored at the marina.”

Mr Sayers said special attention would be placed on creating a unique function venue on the hotel’s top floor overlooking the marina to provide views ideal for holding  weddings, parties and functions.

The Sayers have engaged local develop, design and construction company, Prime Constructions to deliver the project.  Construction Manager John MacPherson says this is a very exciting project that is planned for opening late May 2015.

Architecturally, the Bluewater Hotel will take its cue from its waterfront aspect.
