Nautor’s Swan Designed Super Sleek Sixty Foot Yacht

Nautor’s Swan has more than 40 years of experience in building luxury yachts that are an expression of prestige and sailing elegance.

Nautor’s Swan has recently launched the Swan 60 to meet the growing demand for a high performance racer cruiser yacht in this popular size.

The new design was designed by the well-known son of the renowned Frers designer, he opted for speed and style with the lightweight construction that it requires without making concessions. To date three Swan 60s have been produced in the last year demonstrating the popularity of this yacht already.

The carbon hull, mast and PBO rigging (a custom engineered synthetic cable) ensures a lightweight yacht combined with increased strength above and below the streamlined deck. The modernised deck has been achieved by minimising the on deck components enhancing the visible smooth lines.

The Swan 60 coach roof barely rises and the topsides are flared aggressively with a mighty beam aft and shallow run. New butterfly style frameless hatches look more chic than ever next to the white caulking which runs above and below deck.

For the regatta racers the yacht can be fitted with all the high tech material and gadgets available, alongside an optional deeper keel, a high modulus mast, PBO rigging and the addition of a long bowsprit the yacht becomes a racing machine taking regattas by storm.

Mike Broughton, one of the world’s top forecasters and weather routers on the international yacht racing circuit, who has raced on nearly all of the latest Swan range is very complimentary about the Swan 60, ‘there are excellent systems onboard, including the Magic-Trim mainsheet which allows the main to be dumped if a big bear away is required and there are some very handy remote control systems that make the boat easy to cruise short-handed.  All of the winches are electric.  There is one winch handle but that is primarily used as the throttle lever for the engine.  The master-cabin forward is a great idea, as it is a far quieter area when the boat is stern to or on a mooring.  It is also away from the noise of the cockpit under sail.  After some optimisation Emma (Swan 60) is now a really competitive boat, very responsive and faster than the previous 601 model.’

Alternatively the Swan 60 can also be adapted for performance cruising using the shorter keel, fully electronic winches enabling the yacht to be comfortably sailed by three people with the spacious cockpit easily seating ten people.

When the yacht is not underway it is possible to access the garage situated at the stern of the yacht. The garage has space to house a semi rigid tender or inflatable boat and when open provides another platform in matching teak and calking seen throughout the yacht. Above deck the garage provides a raised deck which can be used as a useful seat when sailing behind the driver or can double up as a solarium.

Below decks the yacht has been finished to the highest level with furnishings that are true to the Italian brand’s evident approach of being stylish yet practical. The oiled teak used throughout is hand filed with a soap like product. Nautor’s Swan keeps a section of teak used on each yacht for reference so that a perfect match can be sourced should any future work on the teak be needed.

There are three cabins onboard including the master cabin located in the bow with an en-suite bathroom, both the rear cabins having twin beds which can easily be turned into double beds and each have their own en-suite. The chart table located in the aft of the saloon has all the high-tech gadgets and controls needed to accompany such a glitzy yacht located on one central touch screen computer.
