Multi 23 Mk II about to be launched

The Multi 23 trimaran is desgined along the lines of the famous maxi trimaran Orma 60s, but is only 6.72 metres long.

Both designed by the renowned naval architect firm Van Peteghem Lauriot Prévost (VPLP) and built by the French shipyard Torpen International Boats, more than 90 boats are sailing worldwide, Now the shipyard has announced the launching of the Multi23 MKII model with improvements.

The new version is built using infusion technology and high quality materials (epoxy, carbon, vinyl ester, PVC foam core), to make it very light, but it now includes reinforcements in carbon such as the beams that are now 80% carbon. The new version of Multi 23 is stiffer, more responsive and faster than the previous model.

The standard Multi 23 is still delivered with a suit of three sails (mainsail with two reefs, self tacking jib and gennaker). The optimisation of the rudder system is now 100% carbon with retractable centreboard. By increasing the carbon structural reinforcements it gives the hull strength to withstand the forces generated by high speeds over 20 knots allowed by the platform design.

Among the new options is the mast travellers that allow effortless hoisting of the mainsail and are safer with controlled dowsing, even on a run, when reefing or simply when approaching a mooring. A 100% carbon bowsprit (by Betrom Design) is available for those requesting an asymmetric spinnaker.

The deck hardware is by Karver Systems, including  the jib and gennaker furling systems and a single jib sheet, crossing through the main beam and  mounted on a 180° swivel cleat tower.

The new yacht is easy to handle, fast and stable plus safety being among its key points.
