A dramatic photo sequence in this month's Australian Sailing magazine shows Tony Turton's Sharpie Don't Poke The Bear crunching through the seaway off Adelaide's Brighton & Seacliff Yacht Club.
When the for'ardhand is knocked off trapeze by solid water and tumbles inboard, taking his two crewmates with him, the outcome looks, well, uncertain.
Greg Pratt managed to capture more than just those four published photos during a wild day on the Gulf of St Vincent, in big seas whipped up by the 25-30 knot south-westerly breeze.
Here we show the before and after scenes, as well as some great images of the other two Sharpies which got around the course that day, David Higgins' All Scoobed Out and Jim Lelliott's Mystic Connection.
The Australian Sharpie (formerly known as the Lightweight Sharpie) is renowned for its ability to handle these conditions, when many other off-the-beach dinghy classes stay ashore.
