After recommendations to cover up by the Sun Cancer Clinic, mother/daughter team Sandy King and Brooke Vickers launched their business – IceRays.
In the search to find an alternative to several applications of sunblock or forced to wear hot long sleeve shirts to participate in outdoor activities, the company sourced out some 50+ UV protective arm sleeves through overseas contacts.
“We decided to order one of every brand available to check them out. Some did not have the UV protection required and other with seams and elastic tops and bottoms were not comfortable. Others fell to pieces after laundering. We came up with IceRays after many hours of deliberation as they were the only ones to truly fit the purpose. We had them tested by ARPANSA (Australian Government Testing Service) to have genuine 50+ UV protection. Lately many yachties and fishermen have shown interest in them, for sun protection on the water.”
IceRays are said to be moisture wicking to cool you down and remove perspiration and protect 99.6 percent UVA rays and 99.4 percent UVB rays.
Available in Australia and New Zealand in nine different colours, IceRays arm sleeves retail for $29.95 a pair.
