International Maxi Yacht Association, Tenerife (Canary Islands) to Virgin Gorda (British Virgin Islands)
In her inaugural race, the 67m Panamax ketch, Hetairos was the first yacht to cross the finish line off the island of Virgin Gorda with a crossing time of 8 days, 10 hours, 58 minutes and 30 second at an average speed of 15.5 knots.
The Hetairos was co-designed by Reichel/Pugh Yacht Design and Dykstra Partners. Reichel/Pugh's responsibility was for the hull and appendages surface geometries and the sail plan. The Hetairos lines are the result a tank testing and extensive CFD program carried out by Reichel/Pugh.
The Hetairos blends the classic looks of the early 19th century pilot cutters with a modern underbody and ultra-modern composite construction techniques employed by her builder Baltic Yachts, Finland. Hetairos has an all up lightship displacement of 230 tons and a lifting keel with a down draft of 9m. Composite Engineering was by Gurit and the stunning interior design by Rhoades Young Ltd.
