Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club (NCYC) invites skippers to enter the 2012 Forgacs Defence Inner Spring Regatta to be held over the weekend of the 7/8/9 September 2012.
The regatta format will be a Friday afternoon pursuit race followed by three windward leeward short offshore races on the Saturday and a double points 25-30 nautical mile passage race on the Sunday for the Grand Prix Divisions. Entrants in the Cruising Division will race one passage race on the Saturday and Sunday in addition to the Friday afternoon pursuit race. The regatta will cater for PHS and IRC rated yachts that meet Category 4 safety requirements.
With the support of major ship building company Forgacs Defence the Inner Spring Regatta will be loads of fun on and off the water with entertainment organised for the Friday and Saturday evenings as well as a short presentation following racing on the Sunday.
“We would love to have as many entrants from Sydney, Pittwater, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens and elsewhere as possible. We also have craning and berthing facilities available for any yachts migrating south after Hamo and it would be great to maybe lure a Victorian yacht or two to compete also! NCYC offers a great offshore sailing track and we are more than happy to show of our relatively new club and facilities to visiting yachts.” commented Rear Commodore Paul Gleeson.
With a very affordable entry fee and plenty of accommodation catering to all budgets the Forgacs Defence Inner Spring Regatta offers a great opportunity to ‘leap’ into the 2012-13 sailing season.
