Buizen 52 unveiled at decking-out ceremony

The much-anticipated Buizen 52 was unveiled to a select group of Buizen owners, friends and media at a recent function held at the boutique yacht builder’s Sydney headquarters.

While maintaining the fundamental values of a Buizen yacht – safety, ease of sailing, luxurious comfort, ocean passage-making – the new Buizen 52 has been built using state-of-the-art techniques such as CNC cutting technology, vacuum infused composite hull construction and CAD design for both the interior and exterior.

Buizen Yachts managing director Steve Howe said the Buizen 52 was the beginning of an exciting new era for the company.

“The new 52 is built from the DNA of the Buizen 48 in terms of its ocean-cruising capability, quality and ease of handling – and the fact we continue to build to an outcome rather than a price point,” Mr Howe said.

“But the introduction of state-of-the-art technology has enhanced the process and outcome altogether.

“The new boat has nearly a 23 per cent increase in volume compared to the 48 yet it weighs just a tonne and a half more… the vacuum-infusion process means it’s lighter, stronger and faster overall.

“The interior fit-out is going together with millimetric precision, and the quality of hand-crafted furniture and joinery and the bespoke nature of a semi-custom design means there is no compromise in this boat whatsoever.”

The Buizen 52 was designed by Anthony Starr Design and Peter Lowe Naval Architects. Known for their superyacht designs and collaborations, Starr and Lowe have brought superyacht style to this project.

“The new Buizen 52 is a pocket superyacht,” Mr Howe said.

“The brief was to have a contemporary European superstructure along with a superyacht deck, interior design, style and finish.

“The external styling and amenity, sailing function and systems design, together with its beautiful interior layout and finishes, sets this yacht apart from any other semi-custom, semi-production yacht built in Australia and quite possibly the world [outside of genuine superyachts].”

The Buizen 52 is due for launch later this year, although viewings and introductions can be arranged on hull #1 prior to its launch.

Buizen Yachts will be attending the Sydney International Boat Show at the end of July to meet with interested parties and arrange viewings.
