BT Boats launch the 3rd Kiwi 40FC in rain swept Wellington

Tuesday the 6th of December marked an important day for the latest addition to the Kiwi 40FC fleet.

Despite the pouring rain consistently embracing Wellington’s harbor throughout yesterday’s
ceremony, everything went well and smoothly; after leaving the factory at Hakes Marine, the boat
firstly went into the water and was rigged soon after.

“Bodacious Dream” has already started sea trials as planned, and is currently “at home” sailing 20 knots of Southerly wind. American skipper Dave Rearick will be staying in Wellington until the beginning of February when the boat will leave New Zealand shores and head for the U.S.A.

Once the Global Ocean Race yachts will have arrived in Wellington, expected around Christmas day, “Bodacious Dream” will get the chance to meet and test her performances against other Class40’s that will be staying in the Wellington harbor until the re-start of the GOR on the 29th of January.

Eager to compete, “Bodacious Dream” and her skipper will be quick to embrace their first challenge subsequent to the arrival in the US by participating in the Atlantic Cup that will kick off on 12th May 2012 from Charleston, South Carolina, head to New York City and then Newport, Rhode Island.
