Australian Sailing October issue on sale now

The October issue of Australian Sailing magazine is packed with features for the racing sailor.

America's Cup winning tactician David Dellenbaugh offers rules of thumb that work, including "sail towards the next windshift, sail the longer tack first, and go for puffs in light air, shifts in breeze". The advanced speed tips in this issue, by Dave Flynn of Quantum Sails, cover downwind angles - the different angles needed in different wind strengths.

Australian Sailing team consultant Andrew Verdon talks about cramp and how to avoid it, Vanessa Dudley suggests a regular look at the rule book and Tony Bull tells owners how to put a winning crew together.

This issue has some special features about people. Torvar Mirsky talks about the World Match Race Tour and his desire to be involved in the America's Cup, Brendan Hall shares his secret formula for winning a long-distance ocean race, Heather Forbes describes the great programs in Victoria aimed at getting more women into keelboats and Bob Ross  writes about a sailing dynasty - the legendary Beashels.

There is also a boat test of the Hunter 22 sportsboat, a feature on carbon spars and a look at the history of a 100-year-old Tasmanian one-design that is still racing regularly on Sydney Harbour.
