Wind generators have been around for a while. They provide a good power rating and a potential 24-hour-a-day power supply. The big problem is that they are very noisy if they are turning. That is the reason they are not so popular. During sailing or at the marina it can be annoying, like running a petrol-based generator.
Silentwind is a new-generation wind generator and is said to change all of that.
Wolfgang Salinger is producing laminated, UV-resistant carbon blades, successfully tested according to DIN EN 61400-2 at hurricane speed 122km/h (5480rpm, with almost the speed of sound at the blade tips).
The safety and quietness of their rotor blades results from the fact that the production is made with time-intensive hand-laminating process with high-tensile carbon-fibre mats.
All other carbon-fibre blades are made of an injection-process only with granulated carbon fibres. The strength and UV resistance with this process is very limited. These rotor blades and the quality of the generators is said to make the whole unit very quiet.
A programmable hybrid controller has the option to connect solar panels up to 180Wp. A comprehensive display will show data like V, A, A/h, or kW/h.
Customers who already have the AIR X or AIR Breeze wind generators can use the company’s replacement “Whispering” blades which will reduce the noise emission dramatically and will improve the power output.
