Nautilus Marine has released a dedicated boating smartphone app designed to assist in repairing and servicing your yacht.
Finding the right marine trades can sometimes be a bit hit and miss, while many boaters often have a trusted supplier they cannot always be relied on in every situation. You might be in a different port, for instance, or in need of a more specialised trade to help get you back out on the water quickly.

Helping you to connect with local marine trades around the country, Nautilus Marine launched ‘The helm’ app designed to make it easier for boaters to quickly and smoothly source the right suppliers and tradespeople wherever they are.

The app is free to download from the Apple app store or Google play store for both iOS and Android devices and can be used by both Nautilus Marine policy holders and non-policy holders alike. Once installed, the app allows users to build a digital profile of their boat and enter any unique details about the vessel such as accessories or special equipment, as well as upload photos.

The next time there is a need for a particular marine service or product, simply enter a request in the app and automatically connect with a network of thousands of marine businesses around the country.

Nautilus Marine has a network of certified repairers in Australia with which it works closely to provide claims-related repair work and services for policy-holders. In addition, any marine business or service provider can register with The Helm, providing a comprehensive database of marine trades and products for all types of vessels.

So, for example, a boat owner might want to get a service for an outboard or find out about refuelling and marina services in a particular area. Simply enter the request in the app and it will be matched with relevant service providers in that area. Users can request and compare quotes for any type of work on boats such as mechanical work, servicing or repair work and then make a booking with the choice of supplier.

When the work is completed, the app also serves as a repository for all information about servicing and maintenance carried on a boat so the owner can quickly verify the boat’s service history and what type of work was performed and when.
Having a known service history is also important in maintaining a boat’s secondhand value so being able to quickly show that a boat has been well looked after will make negotiating a sale easier. If a boat is being surveyed prior to a sale, a well-documented service history can prove to be invaluable.

Rather than scrambling around trying to find paper dockets from years back, everything needed is at your fingertips on The Helm app.

If you have fitted new gear to your boat, upload the receipts and a photograph of it to the app for a handy record of what was installed in the event you might need to replace it or to make a claim.

“We want to make this opportunity available to every boat owner in the country to access a wide range of products and services," said Lyndon Turner, Nautilus Marine CEO.

Users will also have access to a range of exclusive benefits and updates via The Helm which are unique to Nautilus Marine.
